Reporting to the Manager of Repair Engineering (MMED), we are seeking a permanent Work Planner that will be providing technical support for the Production Department with focus on Engine & Module Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection and Assembly Processes. The typical but not limited to duties & responsibilities, and Skills/Qualifications are listed below for your information. The successful candidate must be of strong character, be able to work independently and understand their respective role in supporting the organization.

Typical Duties and Responsiblities:

  • Using approved technical data such as but not limited to Engine Manuals (i.e. CF6-80, V2500A5), as well as acceptable technical data such as but not limited to Shop Handling Guide (SHG) and Engineering Technical Orders (TO), to provide necessary documentation and instruction (hardcopy and or electronic) for Cleaning, Inspection, Assembly, Disassembly, Repair, and Engine Test.
  • Tailor MTU-C processes to the equivalent MRO methods provided by the technical data originator as well as with MTU-C procedures, strategies and goals.
  • Revise affected work documentations in accordance with Manual revisions, Incremental Changes, Service Bulletins or Engineering Technical Orders.
  • Support Engineering in identifying equipment (such as tooling and fixtures) and consumables requirements.
  • Participate in equivalency determination for equipment (such as tooling and fixtures) and consumables.
  • Support Engineering with part repair or machining processes by defining necessary steps to be performed by specific shops/work centers and create required documentation.
  • Support Engineering in developing new repairs and maintenance processes.
  • Participate in process time evaluation and action planned time changes (MTU 1083 Form, PS-Hour Database)
  • Action Change Requests (MTU 1082 Form) from other departments.
  • Set-Up and maintain Material Master Data Base (MPL) in SAP/ECMS in regards to adding new part numbers, reflect parts interchangeability, etc.
  • Creation of “technical onlog” report taking into account the modification control chart (MCC) and version regulations (e.g. SB’s, Manual, Technical Orders) and checking for compliance.
  • Evaluating Disposition Control Sheet (DCS) requests prior to engine delivery to the customer and check the final logistical onlog to verify compliance with version regulations in close cooperation with material coordinators (MCs).
  • Investigate deviations identified by the system during “technical onlog” or DCS, initiate and incorporate corrections where necessary.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, supervisors and designated MTU Network colleagues to understand, adapt to, learn from, and resolve issues
  • Maintain Common Hardware Kit List and action change requests (MTU 1084 Form).
  • Maintain and Create elements of the ECMS – Inspection Data Management (IDM).
  • Identify opportunities and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Communicate and interact with other MTU colleagues internal or external as required to resolve and implement MRO specific improvements.
  • Provide support in projects, initiatives and additional duties as assigned by the Manager Production Support Manager.
  • Participate in evaluation & implementation of maintenance process related lean initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must possess the qualifications of a Mechanic and have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the aircraft engine shop environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience within Engine and Module Disassembly & Assembly and / or Engine Piece Part Cleaning, NDT & Inspection is an asset.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand technically data to resolve complex issues and provide technical advice to others.
  • Must have good knowledge and understanding of engine MRO processes including but not limited to disassembly, assembly, test, cleaning, inspection and repair processes.
  • Must have ability to perform work on computer systems using standard Electronic Data Processing (EDP) software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Teamcenter, PDF formatting, Teams, SharePoint).  Intermediate knowledge of SAP is required.
  • Must have very good interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with other company personnel in a professional manner.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
