Configuration Control Specialist ​

We are seeking a detail-oriented Configuration Control Specialist to join our Powerplant Engineering team. This role is responsible for managing configuration control for all aircraft engine shop visits and ensuring accurate system administration of engine data and documentation. The specialist will maintain compliance with OEM standards, regulatory requirements, and internal processes, acting as the key interface between engineering, production, and quality for configuration-related matters.

The team operates across multiple MTU locations using one common database, ensuring global consistency and data integrity for all engine configurations. Configuration control is driven by the proper application and tracking of Service Bulletins, which define the approved changes and standards for each engine.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage engine configuration data for each shop visit, ensuring compliance with OEM standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Apply and track configuration changes based on Service Bulletins and approved work scopes, ensuring accurate incorporation into maintenance processes.
  • Maintain and update configuration systems (SAP or equivalent) for accurate data across all MTU sites.
  • Prepare configuration reports and documentation for audits and customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Support global consistency by working within a common database and providing training on best practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in configuration management within aviation, MRO, or aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with OEM documentation (CMM, AMM, IPC), Service Bulletins (SBs), and regulatory requirements (FAA/EASA).
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems; experience with digital maintenance platforms preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and multi-site environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for training and collaboration.
