Supply Chain Coordinator (Position# MMSP-26002)

For successful performance in this position, the incumbent must have a good understanding of the functions and workings of Jet Engines, Customer Contracts and Requirements, Shop Handling Guides, Supply and Services Contracts, Service Bulletin and Deviation handling, and Internal MTU processes. The incumbent will report directly to Manager, MMS - Supply Chain.
Typical Duties and Responsiblities:
- Understand and interpret basic engine-module-parts schedule and WRB sheets-information
- Using SAP system produce material transparency at each stage of engine shop visit
- Prepare requests for technical quotation, select successful bidders, negotiate prices and terms, supply product information, and evaluate and interpret maintenance requirements, modification changes, Service Bulletins, manual revisions and Airworthiness Directives
- Purchase goods and services as required after technical evaluation (MCC and SB) and determine inter-changeability when part substitutions are required
- Ensure that outside suppliers consistently meet the service level required to support material requirements planning and applicable engine shop visit TAT
- Establish partnerships with suppliers aimed at generating the best overall value to the company, including the overall MTU MRO as an organization
- Responsible to identify turn time risk and enable to provide proactive solutions and/or option to avoid delays and penalties, which includes coordination of Pool/loan and/or exchange material
- Responsible for Continuous process improvement initiatives within the team on an ongoing basis
- Other projects and duties as required (multi-tasking)
- Good typing skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- The individual must have experience or knowledge of material planning, inventory and purchasing concepts as well as familiarization with engine overhaul or manufacturing environment.
- He/she must have the ability to liaise with other Company personnel, and outside agencies, including the negotiation of contracts with vendors and suppliers, in a positive and professional manner.
- Must possess the qualifications of a Mechanic or hold a relevant Logistics/Supply Chain diploma or certification (e.g. CPIM, CSCP or SCMP), with not less than four (4) years of experience in either field or a combination thereof.
- Must have all qualifications listed under Buyer and Material Planner and be able to perform those duties as required.
- He/she must have leadership skills and ability to direct a team of Buyers, Material Planners as well as Administrative Assistants and the ability to effectively carry out the duties of the position with a minimum of supervision.
Reference Description of Buyer and Material Planner:
Buyer:
- Buyer must have grade 12 education or equivalent plus formal training at a recognize institution or equivalent experience in an aerospace purchasing environment.
- Must have minimum of three (3) years’ experience in and practical knowledge of material management and handling systems of material or production planning process.
- In addition must posses the ability to analyze inventory requirements using Computer system.
- Must also have the ability to research and analyze procurement data and develop alternate sources.
- Must have ability to communicate accurately both verbally and in writing, including a professional telephone manner.
- Must be capable of carrying out the duties of the position with minimum supervision.
Material planner:
- Must possess the qualification of a buyer.
- In addition the individual must possess five (5) years’ experience in material management, inventory MRP or an equivalent inventory related position.
- Must be able to demonstrate: the ability to analyze inventory requirements from company produced reports, administrative inventory replenishment controls and generate requests for purchasing, perform MRP forecast and have practical knowledge of aircraft or engine related parts, documentation and work processes.
