MTU provides maintenance from targeted hospital visits to complete overhauls on over 30+ commercial aero engine and industrial gas turbine lines and has completed more than 18,000 shop visits for over 1,400 customers worldwide.  Within this Global network, MTU Maintenance Dallas provides hospital shop and on-site maintenance services.     

Supervisor - Engine & Module MRO ​

The Supervisor – Engine & Module MRO is responsible for daily operational leadership within assigned engine lines, module shop areas, or supporting work centers. This role ensures safe, compliant, high‑quality, and efficient execution of engine and module maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities in alignment with MTU standards, FAA regulations, customer requirements, and production targets.​

Supervisors serve as first‑level leaders, overseeing technicians, allocating resources, coordinating with planning, engineering, quality, supply chain, and training, and driving continuous improvement across the shop.​

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership​

  • Oversee day‑to‑day execution of disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, assembly, and test‑related tasks for engines and/or modules.​
  • Assign work to technicians based on qualifications, workload priorities, shift coverage, and production schedule.​
  • Monitor workflow progress, remove bottlenecks, and escalate issues when necessary.​
  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies, Repair Station Quality Manual, FAA regulations, and OEM/MRO process standards.​
  • Manage shift handover communication and ensure continuity of work across shifts.​

2. People Management & Development​

  • Lead a team of 10–25 technicians depending on area and shift.
  • Conduct daily stand‑ups, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.​
  • Support employee onboarding and skills development in collaboration with Training Center.​
  • Coach team members on technical skill, quality mindset, and MTU culture.​
  • Participate in performance reviews, attendance management, corrective actions, and recognition programs.​

3. Quality, Safety & Compliance​

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved technical data, engineering instructions, and customer requirements.​
  • Partner with Quality Engineers to resolve non‑conformities, audit findings, and inspection holds.​
  • Maintain a culture of zero‑defect execution and strict adherence to part tagging, documentation, and configuration control.​
  • Drive safe behaviors and support hazard reporting, incident investigations, and risk mitigations.​

4. Production Coordination & KPI Management​

  • Execute daily/weekly production plans in collaboration with Planning & Control.​
  • Track and report key performance indicators (TAT, productivity, rework, overtime, WIP status, and crew utilization).​
  • Help develop realistic work‑arounds in cases of material shortages, engineering constraints, or tooling issues.​
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working and communicating effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a proactive, creative approach to challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Web applications, and general technical data, including ESM, AMM, SB’s.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred, Powerplant required.
  • Prior experience with engine maintenance, engine changes, engine inspections and module removal & installation required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Experienced A&P Licensed or P Licensed Technician to perform shop-level work both in the MTU Maintenance shop and in the field, domestically and internationally, as job scopes warrant. Job duties include a large range of maintenance from service bulletin and AD compliance to inspections and Level one repairs. Individuals must maintain a high level of performance and integrity and be an effective team player with leadership potential.
  • Individuals should have experience with Borescope inspections, top and bottom case compressor repairs, module removal and installation, engine change and QEC, AD and SB modifications, hot section replacements and repairs, configuration change, fan blade replacement, and lease return inspections.
  • Shop level maintenance required. Preferring experience with the following engines:
    CFM 56
    LEAP
  • Understands and can comply with the FAA and EASA requirements of return to service engines and aircraft
  • Comply with FAA, EASA, and Company Policies and procedures
  • Ability to learn as well as teach others on work scopes
  • Assist engineers in testing and troubleshooting equipment
  • Conduct heavy lifting of equipment and materials
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain and update equipment records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Assist in general shop maintenance tasks as needed
