Facility Worker (Temporary Position - ends January 17-2025) ​

Salary:  $23.71 - $26.70 per hour

Reporting to the Team Leader Facilities, the Facility Worker will be responsible for performing general maintenance duties in assigned areas.  Typical duties and responsibilities of this position include following approved methods and work procedures, ensuring tasks are completed in a neat and timely manner, ensuring that equipment and supplies are on hand, submitting reports of damages or other requirements for repair, maintaining accurate written records and troubleshooting and performing general maintenance and repairs to buildings, facilities and equipment.

Your Tasks:

  • Ensuring Health and Safety items are where should be (i.e. eye wash stations, first aid kits, spill kits and passage ways are kept clear).
  • Check spill kits for completeness and resupply if required.
  • Remove garbage and cardboard as required.
  • Remove hazardous waste, store and catalogue in designated area.  Arrange for disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Perform minor building maintenance (i.e. painting, hanging boards/pictures, cleaning windows, changing light bulbs, washing shop floors, general shop cleaning).
  • Perform minor facility maintenance (i.e. snow and ice removal, yard sweeping/cleaning, painting, signage).
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance under the direction of a Millwright (i.e. painting, cleaning, etc.).
  • In an emergency, may carry out minor janitorial duties (i.e. refill soap, toilet tissue and towels, sweep/mop floor if necessary).

Our Requirements:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Possess a valid provincial class five (5) or seven (7) driver’s licence and have the ability to pass a forklift operation exam.
  • Possess excellent organizational ability and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Possess good comprehension of WHMIS.
  • A diploma or secondary education is an asset but not a prerequisite.
