The Group Lead plays a key role in overseeing the day to day activities of the Group. You will provide mentorship and guidance to your team, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity while fostering a collaborative and engaging work environment.

The Powerplant Engineering (PPE) team manages the maintenance and overhaul of customer jet engine fleets under flight hour agreement contracts.  Our Powerplant Engineering and Workscoping teams collaborate to provide comprehensive and unique solutions to various airlines and shops around the world.  The PPE Group Lead will be responsible for overseeing Powerplant Engineers who support both the GTF and V2500 partnership programs with International Aero Engines (IAE).  These experienced teams interface with engineering, customer support, program management, in-network shops and occasionally with airlines to prepare engines for induction or to manage engines undergoing maintenance.  

Essential Functions Include:

Employee Development

  • Conduct regular, meaningful 1:1’s with Group members to connect and discuss progress, address concerns relative to development goals and expectations
  • Fully write and hold Development Plans and Annual Feedback Summaries for Group members with Manager and Tech Lead input
  • Set demanding but realistic goals and explain relevance within the greater context; link individual goals to the goals of the Group and company
  • Assess performance of employees
    • Recognize employees for high performance utilizing AENA’s Recognition Program, along with other methods
    • Proactively identify and address employee issues and escalate to Manager if disciplinary action is needed
    • Provide merit-based input for salary discussions

Recruiting

  • Support department recruitment activity
  • Review candidates in applicant tracking system
  • Participate in interview de-brief meetings

Communication

  • Conduct Group Meetings to discuss projects, challenges, escalations and successes within the Group; Communicate relevant information down to Group and up to Manager    

Budgetary Ownership

  • Provide input for Department Operational budget and manage Group budget
  • Own quoting of POs or SOWs in NetSuite (delegate Project leads if applicable)

Strategic Input

  • Provide input to Manager about changing business, financial and operational information
  • Propose changes to existing Group structure as necessary

Continuous Improvement

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and ensure resources are available
  • Empower employees to make changes in the spirit of continuous improvement

Relationship Management

  • Promote collaboration between group members, partners, customers
  • Promote cohesion and team spirit and create a sense of identity with the department, company
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Contribute to the development of new business, seek opportunities to bring forth to Manager
  • Form strong relationships with company-wide Group Leads (your peer Group) by meeting on a regular basis for alignment, sharing of best practices, etc
  • Be fluent in the core discipline,  and become conversational across organizational disciplines
  • Develop and leverage external networks towards continuous professional growth

Group Leadership

  • Provide an environment that fosters engaged employees

Task Oversight

  • Delegate and prioritize Group member tasks in accordance with Group needs, individual strengths and experience
  • Ensure deliverables are being met

Operational Oversight

  • Provide oversight and direction to comply with company policies and procedures
  • Conduct NetSuite project management tasks
    • Review NetSuite charging and incentive time/pay
    • Review expense reports (travel, etc.)
    • Review training records
  • Monitor hybrid work schedules
  • Coordinate schedules (Flextime and PTO), job rotations, and assignments
    • Approve incoming PTO/Flextime requests

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in relevant field
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 2+ years of team leadership experience
  • Intra-company job assignment/rotation strongly preferred
  • Occasional international travel may be required
  • Eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship
