As a Structural Mechanics Engineer (M. Sc. / Ph. D.), you are responsible for the design and evaluation of engine components at MTU Aero Engines AG, thus making a decisive contribution to flight safety. The task of a Structural Mechanics Engineer is to ensure that components are  able to withstand all loads acting on them during their life cycle. Challenging engineering questions in this regard arise throughout the entire product design, during the definition and evaluation of tests and during certification, but also in the evaluation of deviations from drawings and repairs. We work closely connected with other technical disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Materials Science and Design. Our department is organized by component groups (rotors, casings, blades, bearing structures, engine dynamics and material modeling), and we are hiring in all of these teams

YOUR TASKS

  • You will learn on a daily basis, but also will be introduced to new, challenging tasks and be able to contribute your knowledge
  • You get close insight to our innovative engines and cover almost all areas of Structural Mechanics (e.g. FEA, nonlinear dynamics, fracture mechanics, LCF, HCF)
  • You have a central role in the interdisciplinary product development teams and actively participate in the development process
  • You develop and maintain Structural Mechanics methods together with your colleagues
  • You cooperate closely within MTU, but also externally with (international) partners and research institutes
  • You have the opportunity to take on responsibility
  • You work in a strong team together with your colleagues

YOUR PROFILE

  • A very good university degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Structural Mechanics, Mathematics with a focus on numerical simulation, Aerospace Engineering or a comparable field of study, ideally with a doctoral degree
  • Graduates and experienced professionals are equally welcome
  • Excellent grades and very good knowledge in engineering mechanics and numerical simulation
  • Very good communication skills and an eye for the essential
  • Curiosity, analytical way of thinking and pleasure in solving complex tasks
  • Fluent in English
