Quality, Engineering and Engine Records Manager ​

The Quality Engineering and Engine Documentation Manager is responsible for ensuring full regulatory compliance, technical airworthiness, and quality excellence across engine maintenance operations. This role provides technical leadership for certification, inspection, and documentation processes while driving continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and team development. In addition, the position has direct responsibility for departmental leadership, personnel management, and operational performance.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Regular provision of partial reports on the status of MTU Maintenance with regard to the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Monitoring of product and process deviations and initiating corrective and preventive actions
  • Oversight of company activities to ensure the airworthiness of our products
  • Certification of maintained products
  • Training and guidance of all team employees, as well as all individuals involved in inspection and audit-related topics
  • Definition of procedures, processes, methods, and sub-goals to improve and maintain quality
  • Process ownership:
    • OPW 05-12 (FOD)
    • OPW 06-04 (Final Inspection & RTS Processes)
    • OPW 05-03 (Work Package Documentation and Retention)

Required Skills/Abilities:  

Technical responsibility for:

  • Defining and ensuring compliance with procedures and processes required by aviation authorities, engine manufacturers, and customers
  • Ensuring that only serviceable parts that meet regulatory and customer requirements are installed or delivered
  • Appointing and providing technical support to the Certifying Staff & Engine Documentation Specialists
  • Ensuring completion of inspection and certifying of engines prior to delivery
  • Assist with performing independent inspections and audits throughout the maintenance process, including the necessary documentation
  • Approving investigation reports prepared by Engineering regarding engine damage, including initiating and monitoring required corrective actions
  • Driving continuous improvement processes using CIP and quality methods
  • Leading, training, and developing the employees under their supervision

Organizational Responsibility for:

  • Personnel management with regard to hiring, performance evaluations, goal setting, employee development, working hours, etc.
  • Ensuring qualifications and continuous training of personnel within the department
  • Organizing the departmental structure and competencies to achieve defined objectives
  • Organizing and planning departmental tasks to fulfill:
    • internal and external obligations
    • achievement of quality standards
    • required communication and reporting
  • Applying and complying with regulatory and customer requirements, as well as occupational safety and environmental protection guidelines within the department
  • Adhering to the approved budget for the department

Competence
The Quality Engineering and Engine Documentation Manager:

  • Makes decisions within their area of responsibility, taking into account agreed objectives, budgets, applicable regulations, and operational guidelines
  • Has leadership authority over the employees under their supervision
  • Makes decisions jointly with the HR department and department director regarding personnel selection, development, and termination
  • Is authorized to advise all employees on matters related to airworthiness, quality, occupational safety, and environmental protection
  • Is also authorized to shut down machines and tools to prevent hazards

Key Performance Indicators – Quality:

  • TAT – B3 (Assembly finished) / TE (Test End) to SA (RTS)
  • Customer Complaints:
    Accepted customer complaints, including quality escapes related to engines
  • Non-Conforming Cost
  • Customer Satisfaction (Voice of the Customer – VoC)
