Senior Manager Logistics & Export Compliance

Salary: $108,000.00 - $135,000.00 CAD per year
In general, the Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance has overall material management responsibility for MTU Maintenance Canada and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Logistics Department, ensuring optimal interface between all logistical functions and all other departments. Typical duties include monitoring of the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods. In addition, the Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance manage the employees within the Logistics & Stores department, the Senior Manager’s role is to provide expertise in supporting department and company goal achievement and to recommend and implement process improvements.
The Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance is responsible for export regulations and compliance process with regards to existing and future military contracts (controlled goods, export license requirements for both material and data movements during operation and bid phase) as well as all current Canadian, U.S. and EU export and compliance laws and regulations (e.g. sanctions, tariff classification and changes, customs, ITAR, CCL and EAR controlled goods, etc.)
Your Tasks:
General duties:
- Manage and coordinate the activities of the Logistics Centre to accomplish the goals identified for the department.
- Coordinate the MTU-C Logistics activities with business strategies in order to improve MTU-C overall achievement.
- Coordinate the logistical and procedural standards of all parts.
- Maintain budget for department.
- Set, monitor and report to the CEO the KPIs for the Logistics department; align department KPIs with goals & objectives on corporate and division level.
- Ensure audit awareness and compliance are to the appropriate aviation and MTU standards.
- Communicate and work with other managers to streamline the Logistics department's efforts with other areas, both as an internal customer and vendor.
- Coordinate training of department employees, both unionized and salary, to ensure multi-tasking is optimized to maintain a high level of proficiency and adherence to the Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness Standards.
Operational duties:
- Coordinate, coach, monitor, supervise and direct employees (unionized employees in particular) in functional work area on a daily basis to achieve goals and targets in meeting internal and external customer expectations.
- Ensure that personnel have all the resources available to be able to perform their delegated tasks.
- Coordinate and ensure the objectives of the Materials Procurement Cycle are met through the application of skilled leadership to proactively support the build process, by ensuring sufficient resource allocation for daily task assignment to meet the defined schedule.
- Coordinate the Receiving, Shipping and Marshalling activities to support production and MTU customer requirements.
- Organize and utilize the available resources and services to support the performance of the individual process teams.
- Identify and respond to turn time risks by having full transparency over all customer engines, modules and engine assemblies throughout the shop visit.
Strategic duties:
- Responsible for process improvement initiatives within the team on an ongoing basis.
- Facilitate team building through department roles and responsibilities, and other activities.
- Identifying and managing work stoppages timely to ensure minimum negative effect on the production process.
- Establish and facilitate operational and strategic working relationships with MTU global business units, to ensure an optimized result for the department and the company.
Our Requirements:
- University degree in Logistics/engineering or related area
- Minimum of 6 years experience in Logistics Management, preferable in operations environment
- Strong leadership and ability to work under stress in dynamic environment
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact well with a diverse group of executives, colleagues and team members
- Results oriented, forward thinking, demonstrates change agility and strategic thinking
- Experience in Aviation & management of unionized employees are strongly preferred
