System Engineering Inspector & Engine Trend Monitor (ETM) ​

Salary:  $80,000 - $110,000 per year

The System Engineer Inspection & Engine Trend Monitor (ETM) is responsible for the industrialization of inspection processes, including the identification of future development needs and the implementation of findings into subsequent projects. This role involves developing innovative inspection solutions and analyzing inspection data to define action alternatives while considering technical, economic, and legal aspects, with support from relevant experts. Further the engineer is responsible to assess Engine Trend Monitoring tool-triggered trend shift alarms, provide troubleshooting recommendations for identified issues to the operator and follow-up on notifications as well as general fleet performance, as well as to conduct MTU Canada engine test cell trend monitoring, to confirm process compliance.

Additionally, the engineer will manage and monitor project requirements, ensuring the successful coordination of resources and adherence to timelines and budgets while minimizing potential risks. Lastly, the position encompasses deviation handling, including the creation of technical documentation, the development of alternative processes, and the assessment of EASA/DER repairs.

Duration: 12 month contract

Your Tasks:

Inspection Oriented

  • Evaluation and interpretation of maintenance requirements (e.g. Engine Manual, AD Notes, Services Bulletins, etc.), to provide technical assistance/direction to Production to address inspection related problems and findings during engine shop visit.
  • Identification of future development needs regarding inspection processes and technology within the framework of the industrialization process and implementation of these results or derivation into further projects.
  • Analysis of inspection data, piece part conditions, findings and define action alternatives.
  • Consideration of technical, economic, and legal aspects; incorporation of expert knowledge (e.g., Power Plant Engineering, Repair Engineering, Quality, etc.) as needed.
  • Engineering support of the Material Salvation process with a specialized focus.

Engine Trend Monitor (ETM) Oriented

  • Creation and distribution of weekly and monthly customer fleet highlight reports.
  • Creation and distribution of bi monthly test cell trend monitoring reports.
  • Setting up additional customer fleets and align processes across MTUs locations.

Project Oriented

  • Taking on the project management function (project coordination and steering function) in project teams for small and medium projects.
  • Providing technical guidance to working groups and coordinating projects within the department as well as cross-departmentally.
  • Ensuring proper processing of assigned projects regarding content, deadlines, and budget.
  • Identifying, representing, and minimizing potential risks.

Technical Oriented

  • Write/Update Technical Orders for deviation handling, including review/approval of technical documents
  • Interface with the engine OEM's to resolve/research technical issues, by submitting inquiries and requests for DR’s/EA’s 
  • Consulting with Vendors regarding technical/logistical issues and changes.

Our Requirements:

  • Bachelor/University degree in an Engineering related area, preferable with 3-4 years experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines) in a repair or maintenance environment or equivalent education in an Engineering related area with 3-4 years work experience (Aviation Gas Turbine Engines), preferable in a repair or maintenance environment
  • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Operation System Windows
  • Advanced knowledge with MS Office
  • Intermediate knowledge with SAP Engineering specific functions/transactions
  • Entry-level knowledge with Tableau for data visualization
