Project Manager ​

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the gas turbine engine maintenance department of MTU Maintenance Canada. This role will focus on optimizing shop layouts, streamlining processes, and implementing new machinery or equipment for production, plus other improvements using LEAN tools and methodologies to improve operational efficiency and productivity.

Candidates must have experience in the Aero-Engine Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) industry, or from comparable service or manufacturing sectors.

Their experience and knowledge will enable them to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, identifying areas for improvement and developing robust action plans for process optimization. We are seeking a highly organized and energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

As a Project Manager you are a self-motivated and dynamic professional, and you will lead by example, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within our organization. Your contributions will play a vital role in our ability to deliver exceptional results for airlines worldwide.

Your Tasks:

  • Negotiate with project stakeholders or suppliers to obtain resources or materials.
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate project activities to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  • Monitor costs incurred by project staff to identify budget issues.
  • Monitor project milestones and deliverables.
  • Create project status presentations for delivery to customers or project personnel.
  • Develop or update project plans including information such as objectives, technologies, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Lead initiatives in the shop, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Foster collaboration across teams to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans for process optimization.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing shop layouts, workflows, and processes to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancement.
  • Implement LEAN, Project Management (DMAIC), or Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements and eliminate waste.
  • Investigate process failures, quality occurrences, safety hazards using quality and engineering methodologies (SRA, FMEA, 5-why, Fishbone, 1P, 4D, 8D) to identify causes and prepare recommendations for corrective or preventative actions.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and effectiveness of process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including production, customer support, purchasing, fulfillment, shipping, quality, and engineering teams, to ensure seamless integration of improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in process improvement methodologies, incorporating relevant concepts into the accessory MRO shop.

Our Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, with 3 years of relevant experience in project management, coordination, or related fields, including experience in reporting, risk analysis, and performance monitoring or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, or the ability to get the certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
  • Proven ability to manage and oversee projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Expertise in drafting policies, plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Skilled in preparing schedules and visual data summaries using various software tools.
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to deliver presentations to all levels of an organization, from the Board to frontline staff.
  • Proficient in data analysis, risk assessment, cost estimating, financial analysis, and process analysis (including process mapping) and improvement.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in production planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP, S/4HANA, or Fiori is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AI applications would be a plus.
